If you're feeling more adventurous, consider going rock climbing. Although it's not advised for beginners, it's an excellent experience for those already experienced. You'll want to be sure to acquire a permit. You can find one at the visitor's center. A fine of $500 is imposed if you are caught climbing without a permit.

If you're planning to visit the Garden of the Gods in the winter, you'll want to check the weather before you go. It's in the mountains, and the winters can be quite cold. The park usually closes at 9:00 p.m. During the busiest seasons, you can get a shuttle service to the park. This makes it easier to get around.

Another option is to try out the free guided walks offered by the Garden of the Gods. The tours cover the area's history, including the native plants and animals. The guides lead 45-minute tours.
