With Kuna ranking as the 11th-fastest-growing city in America according to recent census data, national brands are aggressively taking notice. Mo' Bettahs joins a recent wave of chain restaurants expanding into the former farming community, including Jimmy John's, Wingstop, and Panera Bread.

Grand Opening Events and Free Plate Lunches

To celebrate its arrival, Mo' Bettahs is hosting a packed schedule of events for the local community. On Thursday, the day before the official opening, the restaurant is throwing its traditional "Friends and 'Ohana" pre-opening celebration.

  • Lunchtime Giveaway: From 11:30 AM to 1:30 PM on Thursday, customers will receive a complimentary mini-plate and a drink.

  • Ribbon Cutting: An official ceremony will take place at 4:30 PM.

  • Evening Block Party: From 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM, the restaurant will host a community party featuring food samples, exclusive merchandise, and a photo booth.

"Kuna is a close-knit town, and we can't wait to welcome everyone in, pass around the plates, and bring a little more 'ohana to the neighborhood," stated Mo' Bettahs co-founder Kimo Mack ahead of the launch. Mack and his brother Kalani founded the concept in Utah in 2008, drawing directly on the family recipes and culinary traditions they grew up with on the island of O'ahu.

The Authentic Plate Lunch Experience

Mo' Bettahs has built its massive following by staying true to the classic Hawaiian plate lunch experience. Diners can customize their plates by selecting from sizes like the Mini, Regular, or the massive "'Ekolu" (Da Big Boy), which comes with three meat choices.

Every traditional plate centers on a hearty scoop of the brand's signature macaroni salad and white rice. The protein lineup features island favorites such as:

  • Teriyaki Chicken: Boneless chicken thighs marinated, grilled, and drizzled in house-made Teri Sauce.

  • Kālua Pig: Smoky, salty pork slow-roasted for over 10 hours until fall-apart tender.

  • Katsu Chicken: Breaded and deep-fried boneless chicken thigh for the perfect crunch.

  • Pūlehu Chicken: Grilled chicken seasoned simply with black pepper, garlic, and sea salt.

  • Teriyaki Steak & Shrimp Tempura: Thinly sliced marinated steak and light, golden-fried shrimp.

For lighter or meatless options, Mo' Bettahs also offers brown rice, mixed veggies, and a Pākē Salad.

Whether you are looking to snag a free plate during the Thursday "Friends and 'Ohana" event or want to become a regular when the doors officially open on Friday, this new spot on Deer Flat Road is ready to serve up some serious comfort food.
